Day 6: Remote Jobs Challenge
Awe Remote Worker,
This is it.
Today, you apply to 5 jobs.
No Excuses.
No 'I'll Do It Tomorrow.'
Today.
Five days of preparation.
Five days of learning.
Five days of building confidence, skills, and strategy.
Today, you stop preparing and start DOING.
No more "I'll apply when I'm ready." No more "Let me just study one more thing." No more "I'm scared."
You ARE ready. You've BEEN ready since Day 3.
Today is not about perfection. It's about MOMENTUM. It's about taking the leap you've been planning. It's about moving from "aspiring remote worker" to "active applicant."
All the best.
Here's what most people don't understand:
The difference between someone earning $1,000/month and someone earning R0/month isn't talent. It's not a skill. It's not even luck.
Its volume.
Successful remote workers don't send one perfect application and wait. They send 20, 30, 50 applications knowing that:
50-70% will be ignored (that's normal)
20-30% might get a polite "no thanks"
5-10% will get a response
1-3% will turn into interviews
1 will become your first client
The maths is simple:
Apply to 1 job = 1% chance.
Apply to 50 jobs = 50% chance of success.
Today, you're starting with 5. By next week, you'll have applied to 20+. By next month, 100+.
And somewhere in those 100 applications is the client who changes everything.
WHY APPLYING TO 1 JOB IS SETTING YOURSELF UP TO FAIL
Let me tell you what happens when you apply to just one job:
Day 1: You spend 3 hours crafting the "perfect" proposal. You rewrite it 10 times. You finally hit send, exhausted.
Day 2-3: You check your email every 30 minutes. Nothing.
Day 4: Still nothing. You start to doubt yourself. "Maybe I'm not good enough."
Day 5: You get a response! Your heart races. You open it: "Thanks for your interest, but we've gone with another candidate."
Day 6: You're crushed. You think, "Remote work doesn't work for people like me." You give up.
Now let me show you what happens when you apply to 5 jobs in one day:
Day 1: You send 5 proposals in 2 hours. You're tired but energised. You're DOING something.
Day 2-3: You check your email. Job 1 ignored you. Job 2 said no. Jobs 3 and 4 haven't responded yet.
Day 4: Job 5 responds: "Can we schedule a call?" Your heart races, but this time it's EXCITEMENT, not desperation.
Day 5: You do the interview. Perhaps you'll get the job, perhaps you won't. But you still have Job 3 and 4 pending. And you're applying to 5 MORE today.
Day 6: You're not crushed. You're HUNTING. You know the next yes is just around the corner.
See the difference?
One application = all your hope in one basket. Rejection destroys you.
Five applications = you're playing the numbers game. Rejection is just data.
Today, you become someone who plays the numbers game.

THE NUMBERS GAME OF REMOTE WORK (REALITY CHECK)
Let's be honest about what you're walking into:
Average response rates for beginners:
5-10% of applications get responses
50% of responses are "no thanks"
50% of responses are "let's talk"
30-50% of interviews lead to test tasks
40-60% of test tasks lead to paid work
Translation:
Apply to 50 jobs โ 5 responses โ 2-3 interviews โ 1-2 test tasks โ 1 client
That's not discouraging. That's LIBERATING.
Because now you know: It's not personal. It's just simple maths. Every "no" gets you closer to "yes."
Your job today? Start the maths.
TODAY'S STRATEGY: QUALITY + QUANTITY
You might be thinking: "But shouldn't I focus on quality over quantity?"
Answer: You need BOTH.
Bad strategy: Send 50 copy-paste generic applications. (Quantity without quality = 0 results)
Bad strategy: Spend 5 hours on 1 perfect application. (Quality without quantity = too slow)
GOOD STRATEGY: Send 5 CUSTOMIZED applications in 2 hours. (Quality + reasonable quantity = momentum)
How? Templates + customisation.
You're not reinventing the wheel for each job. You're using the Day 4 formula and adapting it.
YOUR DAY 6 MISSION (2 HOURS TOTAL):
STEP 1: Job Selection
Your goal: Find 5-7 jobs you'll apply to TODAY.
Where to look:
Upwork (search: "[your niche] beginner" or "[your niche] entry level")
Fiverr (browse your category, find buyer requests)
Remote4Africa (filter: entry-level)
More sites: Indeed Remote, We Work Remotely, FlexJobs
Criteria for choosing jobs:
โ
Posted in the last 7 days (fresh = fewer applicants)
โ
Entry-level or "no experience required"
โ
Budget visible and reasonable ($100-$500 projects, or $10-$15/hour)
โ
Clear job description (you understand what they need)
โ
Ideally, 0-15 applicants (better odds)
PRO TIP: Don't just look for "perfect" matches. If you match 60-70% of requirements, APPLY. Clients often list "nice to haves" as "must haves." Your proposal can bridge the gap.
Save/bookmark 5-7 jobs. Write down:
Job title
Platform (Upwork/Fiverr/other)
Key requirements
Client name (if visible)
One specific detail from the post (you'll use this in your proposal)

STEP 2: Application Sprint
Block 90 minutes on your calendar. Phone on silent. No distractions. This is WORK.
For EACH job (15-20 minutes per application):
Minutes 1-3: Read carefully
What problem are they solving?
What tools/skills do they mention?
What's their timeline?
What result do they want?
Minutes 4-10: Write your proposal
Use the Day 4 formula, but CUSTOMIZE:
Paragraph 1 - "I SEE YOU": "Hi [Client Name OR "Hi there" if no name], I read that you need [SPECIFIC THING from job post]. I understand [THE PROBLEM they mentioned]. That's exactly what I can help with."
Paragraph 2 - "I'VE GOT THIS": "Here's how I would approach this: [STEP 1 specific to THEIR job], [STEP 2], [STEP 3]. I'm proficient in [TOOLS THEY MENTIONED], and I [ONE RELIABILITY DETAIL]. [Optional: Acknowledge if you're missing a skill but willing to learn]."
Paragraph 3 - "LET'S START": "I'm available to start [immediately/within X days]. Let's schedule a quick call to discuss your specific needs. I'm online GMT+2, [YOUR HOURS]. Looking forward to helping you [THEIR DESIRED RESULT]."
Sign off: "Best regards,
[Your Name]"
Minutes 11-13: Proofread
Read out loud (catches awkward phrasing)
Check: Did I use their name? Did I mention their specific need? Did I sound confident?
Run it through Grammarly or read twice for typos
Minute 14-15: Attach & Send
If they ask for portfolio samples, attach your best work (even if it's from Day 3 practice)
If they ask for a question to be answered, ANSWER IT (many applicants skip this, an easy way to stand out)
Double-check you're applying to the right job (sounds obvious, but mistakes happen)
SEND IT. Don't overthink. It's good enough.
Minute 16-20: Log it & move to next
Add to your tracking spreadsheet:
Job title
Platform
Date applied
Pay rate
Status: "Applied"
Take a 2-minute break (stretch, water, breathe)
Start the next application
Repeat 5 times.
STEP 3: Tracking & Celebration
After you've sent all 5 applications:
1. Update your tracking spreadsheet (Use Google Sheets template)
Columns should include:
Date Applied
Job Title
Platform
Client/Company (if visible)
Pay Rate
Status (Applied / Response / Interview / Rejected / Hired)
Notes (any follow-up needed)
2. Screenshot your applications (proof you did it!)
3. Share with close family members: "Day 6 DONE! Just applied to 5 jobs: [Job 1 title], [Job 2 title], [Job 3 title], [Job 4 title], [Job 5 title]. Feeling [nervous/excited/proud]! ๐"
4. Celebrate with a specific action:
Text me via WhatsApp at 0671593377 or respond to this e-mail: Hi Phemelo, "I just applied to my first remote job. Thanks for the 7 Day Remote Jobs Challenge. Iโm now a remote worker!" Share your name, province and age.
Treat yourself (R20 airtime, your favourite snack, 20-minute break)
Write in your notes: "I did the thing I've been scared to do. I'm proud of myself."
This matters. Celebration = dopamine = motivation to keep going.

YOUR DAY 6 WINS:
By tonight, you should have:
โ
Applied to 5 real remote jobs using customised proposals
โ
Tracked each application in a spreadsheet
โ
Shared your achievement with me
โ
Celebrated taking massive action
Most importantly: You're no longer "thinking about" remote work. You're actively pursuing it.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
In the next 24-48 hours:
Most jobs: Silence. (This is NORMAL. Not a reflection of you.)
Some jobs: Auto-reply: "Thanks for applying, we'll be in touch." (Neutral, means nothing yet.)
1-2 jobs (if you're lucky): A question, a clarification request, or "Can we chat?" (THIS IS A WIN!)
Your job starts tomorrow:
Check email twice a day (morning and evening, don't obsess)
Respond to ANY client message within 2-4 hours max
Apply to 3-5 MORE jobs every day
By the end of Week 2, you'll have 25+ applications out
Remember: The first response usually comes from application #7-15, not #1-5. Keep going.
THE MINDSET YOU NEED FOR THE NEXT 7 DAYS
You will be ignored. That's okay. Clients get 50+ applications. Yours might be great and still get overlooked.
You will be rejected. That's okay. Sometimes they chose someone with experience. Sometimes they just liked someone else's vibe. Not personal.
You will doubt yourself. That's okay. Every successful freelancer felt this. The difference? They kept applying anyway.
You will want to quit. That's okay. Feel it. Then send one more application. Then another. Then another.
Here's the truth: The person who wins isn't the smartest or most qualified. It's the person who applies to 100 jobs while everyone else quits at 10.
Be the person who makes it to 100.
TONIGHT'S REFLECTION:
Before you sleep, read your tracking spreadsheet.
Look at those 5 jobs. You applied. You took action. You're in the game now.
In 48 hours, one of those clients might message you.
In 7 days, you might have your first interview.
In 14 days, you might have your first test task.
In 30 days, you might receive your first payment.
But NONE of that happens if you don't apply.
You applied. That's the hardest part. Everything else is just follow-through.
WHAT'S COMING TOMORROW (DAY 7):
Tomorrow is the FINAL day of the challenge and the MOST important.
Day 7: Your 90-Day Earning Plan
We're not just celebrating what you've accomplished this week (though we absolutely are celebrating, you CRUSHED it).
We're mapping out the next 90 days:
How to go from 5 applications to 50 to 100
What to do when you land your first interview
How to turn your first client into R10 000/month
The 90-Day Remote Jobs Project that takes you from beginner to PAID
This is where everything comes together.
Rest well.
Check your email before bed (just in case).
Set your alarm.
Tomorrow, we finish strong and launch you into the next 90 days of your life.
See you at 9 am for the grand finale. ๐
Asambe.
